What is Lore version control?

Lore is a new open source version control system developed by Epic Games and announced at Unreal Fest 2026 in Chicago. It solves the challenges around large game and media productions while allowing the community to contribute to its development.

Anchorpoint is a desktop application that provides an artist-focused interface for version control systems including Lore and Git.

Is Lore and Anchorpoint free to use?

Lore is free and open source. Similar to Git, there is an ecosystem of platforms and tools that is currently being developed around it. Anchorpoint will come as a free version for single creators and as a paid subscription for teams that need additional collaboration features as well as proper support services.

When can I use it? What do I need?

Lore can be used right away by accessing the sources from Epic Games. The Anchorpoint desktop application for Lore will be available soon. We are working on it. Join the waitlist to get notified.
